Supermarine Seafire MkXV - Flottille 54S - Aéronautique Navale
The
Seafire MkXV had a relatively brief career in the French Navy Air Arm, where it
served for a transitional period while waiting for the delivery of American
planes that were better suited for use on aircraft carriers. Nevertheless, this
naval version of the Spitfire wore the ‘uniform’ of the Royale (the French
Navy) with rare elegance. This plane belonged to the Flottille de Servitude 54S
air support group, characterised by the yellow spinner, and sported the full
flag on the tail fin.
